📰 Things got really bad between India and Pakistan on Wednesday. India fired missiles into Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir, and Pakistan said they shot down five Indian planes and will get back at India. This is the biggest fight between these two countries in over 20 years.

🤝 India told a bunch of important people from other countries in New Delhi that "if Pakistan does something, India will do something back." This has people worried that there could be a much bigger war in this area, which is already a really dangerous place with lots of people and nuclear weapons ☢️.

💸 This fight is happening at a really bad time for Pakistan's money situation, which is already shaky. They just got out of a big money problem and are trying to get a loan from the International Monetary Fund 💰.

🎯 India said they hit nine places where "bad guys" were hanging out, some of which were connected to a bad attack last month where 25 Hindu tourists and one local person were killed in Indian Kashmir.

☠️ Pakistan said that 26 of their regular people were killed and that India "started a fire in the area" 🔥.

🗣️ Pakistan said they will get back at India "when and where they want to, to make up for the people who were killed and because India messed with their country." They also said that India's claims that they have bad guy camps in their country are wrong.

📍 India even hit places in Punjab, which is Pakistan's biggest area, for the first time since they had a big war over 50 years ago.

🛡️ India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, said, "We hit the places we wanted to hit, and we did it carefully. We made sure no regular people got hurt."

🚑 Pakistan said that none of the six places India hit were bad guy camps. They said that 26 regular people were killed and 46 were hurt.

📺 Indian TV showed videos of things blowing up, fire, lots of smoke in the sky, and people running away in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir. It's hard to say if these videos are real.

🕌 In Muzaffarabad, which is the main city in Pakistani Kashmir, the Indian attack badly damaged a mosque-school 🏫 right in the middle of town. People there said that five missiles killed three people in the building, which also had houses in it 🏘️.

👀 Reporters saw that the roof and walls of the building were broken and that things from people's homes were all over the place.

⚔️ India, which has mostly Hindu people, and Pakistan, which has mostly Muslim people, have fought two wars over Kashmir since they became separate countries in 1947. Both countries say they own all of Kashmir, but they only control parts of it 🗺️.

🎯 'OPERATION SINDOOR'

🛩️ Pakistan said that they shot down five Indian fighter jets and drones, but India didn't say that was true. The Indian embassy in Beijing said the reports are "fake news."

🗣️ People in Indian Kashmir told reporters that three fighter jets crashed in the area, and the pilots were taken to the hospital 🏥. India's defence people didn't say anything.

📷 Pictures on local news showed a big piece of metal in a field where one of the planes crashed. It's hard to say if the picture is real.

💣 India said they attacked places connected to bad guy groups called Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. They called it "Operation Sindoor."

🧨 Jaish said that 10 family members of their leader, Masood Azhar, were killed, but they didn't say what happened to Azhar himself.

🔴 Sindoor is a red powder that Hindu women put on their foreheads to show they're married.

🕵️ India had said before that two of the guys who did the tourist attack were from Pakistan, but they didn't show any proof. Pakistan said they had nothing to do with the attack and wanted someone else to investigate.

🎯 India said they used special weapons to hit "bad guy camps" where they recruit people, train them, and keep weapons.

🌍 India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, told 13 important people from other countries in New Delhi about the attacks.

🗨️ "India said that if Pakistan does something, India will do something back," someone who knows what happened said.

The two countries also fought a lot across the "line of control," like their border in Kashmir. Officials said that 13 regular people were killed and 43 were hurt on the Indian side, and at least six were killed on the Pakistani side.

❓ COULD THINGS GET WORSE?

💥 The attacks were much bigger than what India has done after other attacks in Kashmir that they blamed on Pakistan.

📣 "Because India's attack was so big, much bigger than what we saw in 2019, we can probably expect Pakistan to do something big in return," said Michael Kugelman, a South Asia expert in Washington 🏛️.

🇺🇸 U.S. President Donald Trump said the fighting was "a shame" and added, "I hope it stops fast." The U.S. State Department said its top diplomat spoke to people in charge of security for both countries, telling them to "keep talking and don't make things worse."

🕊️ The United Nations, China, Russia, and Britain said both countries should calm down.

😡 Lots of people in both India and Pakistan said they were angry.

🧑‍⚖️ "Pakistan has been testing our patience. It's good that India is getting revenge," said Kumar Ravi Shankar, a lawyer in Delhi.

👩‍💼 In Pakistan, a businesswoman named Umbreen Mahar said, "Nobody wants war these days. But if India keeps saying bad things about us and then attacks us, Pakistan has the right to fight back and protect our country."
